Tour Wine Country PNW 3 nights, 4 days

When we booked this retreat, we didn’t make a ton of plans.

We originally planned to meet in the midwest, but it worked out to go to wine country instead. I actually brought some wine for us to consume at the AirBnB, but left with more wine because of the two vineyards we visited were especially wonderful.

In addition to delicious white wines (which I don’t normally enjoy) while in the land of Pinot Noirs, we also - almost - learned how to pronounce “Willamette”. I think it helped that the weather was perfect for patio dining, which we took advantage of everywhere it was available.

We only visited two vineyards while staying in Oregon City, OR:

Campbell Lane Winery
Furioso Vineyards

The first one confused us upon arrival. It looked like we were going to someone’s home - which I think we may have been. But, once you get to a table and the wine is served, you are in for a treat. Plus, the view of Mt. Hood in the distance on a clear day (which is what we experienced) also makes it a lovely, understated vineyard to visit.

Our wine server, Brit - it was her first day on the job! - let us share the flight since I was driving and also shared a half dozen other vineyards she recommended for us to try. Which is how we found Furioso.

Furioso is an upscale, super bougie vineyard/tasting room with incredible views and delicious pizza. Paired with the wine, our experience was amazing. I was so in awe of the beauty that at one point, I just sat there missing my Mister, knowing that he would have truly enjoyed this experience even though Malbec (his fave) wasn’t part of the tasting.

While we were in wine country in the PNW, this was a small part of our time there. Drinking responsibly, sightseeing, book buying and many moments of quiet reflection - it was a wonderfully, restful retreat with a great friend.
