Visit the Space Needle
I enjoyed visiting the Space Needle.
It helped that I didn’t have a ton of expectations about it and that I was doing it in addition to something else that same evening in the city. I went on weekday after my work had been completed and used valet parking (best $18 ever) and stayed within the hour circling the outdoor terrace twice and the revolving floor once. I also reserved my tickets online so I didn’t have a wait upon arrival - even though I was a few minutes early, the ticket agents let me go through and join the line.
I’m getting more comfortable asking strangers to take my phone and snap some photos. And I’m glad I did the free professional photos were not very flattering - thanks, iPhone cameras!
The Space Needle draws a lot of ethnic diversity, so listening to all of the conversations happening in languages I didn’t even know was also very cool to me. I kept to myself and couldn’t imagine the cost of the beverages and snacks people were buying. I stayed hydrated by bringing my own water bottle and then stuck to my rule about gift shops and walked out with just three stickers (2 as gifts, one for myself). I could see returning with friends who have not seen or experienced the Needle - I didn’t read much of the history because I wanted to stay within the hour - but I could see hanging around with more of my sign reading friends and extending the visit to learn a bit more about this amazing structure.
