Fly First Class
Okay, y’all - this one has been ticked off several times over.
The first time I attempted to fly first class in 2023 was to hang out with a friend in UT. I got all the way in my seat on a little jumper plane and they deplaned us and cancelled the flight due to inclement weather.
The next times I flew were for work. And the best I could do was to move my seats up to premium seating to be more secure about being able to get my luggage on the flight with me (instead of checked through to my final destination). When I fly for personal reasons and the flight is less than 3 hours, I don’t bother with a first class seat.
But, when your gurl is flying the friendly skies and it’s over 3 hours - which right now, most everywhere I’m headed is like this - I’m going to look at the first class options.
So far, as a 50yo, I’ve flown first class twice this year.
1 - Seattle to Charlotte (Beautycounter LEAD)
2 - Seattle to Atlanta (my mom’s 78th birthday celebration)
And there will be others:
Seattle to Calgary, Vancouver to Seattle (September)
Kahului, Hawaii (November)
Ghana (December)
Israel (February)
And it’s the international flights that I’m most excited about being able to do this. It’s a huge cost, but I’m also really interested in doing more international travel over the next 10 years, so I’m working the mileage plans and also making the experiences more manageable by enjoying the full experience.
I’m tempted to justify the expense here, but I’m not going to explain why I’m able to do this. Let’s just say, I’m grateful I can make the choices to spend money this way and also be a good, generous steward of the money I’ve received.
