Take a Hip Hop Class

THIS IS MY JAM. (pun intended)

Though I won’t make it to but half of the classes, taking a hip hop class is incredibly enjoyable and I’m so glad I chose to do it. The other participants are in my age range and at my level too. The class is taught by a young white woman who was incredibly humble in explaining that she has a music degree and enjoys teaching the class but also knows how that comes across.

I refuse to speak up and become an expert in anyway. I honestly don’t know a ton about the history of hip hop and don’t really have a ton of personal experience with it. I don’t know if that will get my Black card revoked but I’m not deep into this genre of music though I have great respect for vision and influence that this music has had on music and culture in general.

Laugh with me as you watch my recap from class number one that I shared with a few friends. I’m so proud of myself that I am doing this. More than tearing it up on the next dance floor, I’m just glad to see that my body still can move and even more importantly that I am enjoying doing something fun for no other reason than just to have some fun.
